Not just relevant to youth, or to those who work with youth, Recess is a story about how and where inspiration can be found if we take the time to listen to the voices of those who typically do not get heard. Una Aya Osato is the most recent winner of the San Francisco Fringe Festival’s “Best Female Solo Show” and was nominated by the NY Innovative Theater awards for “Outstanding Solo Performance” for her work on Recess, a show that has been described as “heartbreaking and fascinating” by New Theater Corps and “a winning performance” by NYtheatre.com. Recess is Una’s latest one woman show, an impassioned response to her experiences attending and teaching in NYC's public schools. Recess has inspired sold-out audiences from NYC to South Africa with its tender portrayal of an often brutal system. |
