Frankie – late 20s, serious, faithful, dedicated, steady but increasingly nervous

Beth – late 20s, mercurial, independent, courageous, single-minded, with a big heart

Mike – mid 30s, a bully with an unresolved Oedipal conflict with his dad

Lorraine – late 50s, tough, vulgar, manipulative

Sally – early 20s, emotionally needy, resentful of “kid sister” status

Baylor – around 60, gruff, short-fused, a hunter; “things live for him to be killed”

Meg – around 60, warm-hearted, earthy, direct, slightly ditzy at times
